Health management and diseases

Dairy cattle differ from other types of livestock production systems in having management factors that increase the risk of exposure to infectious disease. These factors include:

  • close contact with dairy workers and within the herd
  • confinement during milking, yarding etc.
  • moist conditions.

Not only can diseases be costly to treat and impact on production, an animal welfare requirement is that you keep your animals free from disease.
