Any person intending to use an animal for scientific purposes in Queensland must be registered with the Biosecurity Queensland - Animal Welfare and Ethics and have each activity or project approved by an animal ethics committee (AEC).
The requirements are the same, regardless of whether a person is from Queensland, interstate or overseas. Registration is valid for three years.
