Disaster-activated areas

Southern Queensland Severe Weather, 20-31 March 2021

The following areas have been declared a disaster area and activated under the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for Category B and Category C/D:

  • Goondiwindi Regional Council
  • Southern Downs

Through this arrangement, producers have access to DRFA Category B financial assistance, such as freight subsidies and concessional loans.

Producers can also access Category C and D recovery grants of up to $75,000 to help with clean-up and repairs.

Tropical Cyclone Niran, March 2021

The following areas have been activated under the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for Category B and Category C/D:

  • Cassowary Coast
  • Cairns
  • Hinchinbrook
  • Mareeba
  • Tablelands

Through this arrangement, producers have access to DRFA Category B financial assistance, such as freight subsidies and concessional loans. Producers can also access Category C and D recovery grants of up to $75,000 to help with clean-up and repairs.

Queensland bushfires, September-December 2019

The following areas have been activated under the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for Category B and Category C/D:

  • Livingstone Shire Council (east of the Bruce Highway for Category C/D)
  • Bundaberg Regional Council
  • Gladstone Regional Council
  • Gympie Regional Council
  • Ipswich City Council
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Mareeba Shire Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council
  • Southern Downs Regional Council
  • Noosa Shire Council
  • Sunshine Coast Regional Council
  • Toowoomba Regional Council

Through this arrangement, producers have access to DRFA Category B financial assistance, such as freight subsidies and concessional loans.

Primary producers who have suffered major damage as a result of these bushfires and are outside the above declared areas may apply for an Individual Disaster Stricken Property (IDSP) declaration. An IDSP provides access to Queensland Government assistance similar to the Category B DRFA of freight subsidies and concessional loans.

Far North and North Queensland monsoon trough January-February 2019

North Queensland Restocking, Replanting and On-farm Infrastructure Grant

  • Co-contribution grants of up to $400,000 are available to assist primary producers impacted by the North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough
  • These grants are available from QRIDA and close on 30 June 2022.
