Commercialisation and use of intellectual property

We offer opportunities to commercialise Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) intellectual property (IP) that is the result of world-class research and development (R&D).

To improve productivity and adoption of the results of R&D, we may grant access to commercial entities to develop, market and sell the IP. This includes:

  • products or services
  • technologies
  • copyright works.

Where appropriate, licences are granted through an expression of interest (EOI) process. Other possible options include selling or assigning the IP.

By offering R&D outputs for commercial development, we ensure new and improved products or services and technologies are made available to primary industries and external entities. Revenue from these ventures is re-invested into agriculture and food RD&E.
