Micro-lab testing facility

The need for professional food testing laboratories is increasing, due to escalating regulatory requirements for primary producers, food manufacturers and food service sectors. The department's innovative food technologies group is satisfying this need with the establishment of a National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited food testing microbiological laboratory in Far North Queensland.

The facility provides rapid, expert and confidential food microbiological testing for manufacturers and processors on a competitive fee-for-service basis. Accreditation certificates by NATA are acceptable for 29 countries and will satisfy all Australian Quarantine Inspection Services (AQIS) requirements.
