Queensland Government's research and extension staff support the beef industry across the entire supply chain, from farm to end product. We conduct pure and applied research and provide technical advice and training.

We have expertise in:

  • environmental sustainability, greenhouse emission reduction and predictive environmental management

Our team includes highly trained and experienced professional, technical and field staff, based throughout the state in all major beef producing areas. Visiting scientists and postgraduate students from leading national and international universities also work with us on a variety of research projects.

Strong links with industry

The FutureBeef program for beef extension in Northern Australia is a partnership between government and industry working together for profitable and sustainable northern beef production.

This project aims to bring the latest research technologies and best management practice knowledge, skills and training into the hands of northern beef producers.

FutureBeef is driven by the National Primary Industries Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) Framework and is designed to help beef enterprises become more competitive and sustainable.

It is collaboration between our department, Northern Territory Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia and Meat and Livestock Australia.
