Pig keeping is an environmentally relevant activity under the Environmental Protection Regulation 2008. If you keep more than 400 standard pig units you are required to obtain a development permit and environmental authority (EA). If you intend to keep 400 or less standard pig units, it is recommended that you contact your local council for any requirements they may have.
