Description
  • distinctive white lines run horizontally along the body from the snout to the tail
  • lines may fade in larger fish
  • orange-gold spots cover the body and dorsal fin of adults

  • highly regarded food fish
  • most have small scales
  • hard to see lateral lines and usually rounded to emarginate tail fins

  • in addition, there is a total possession limit of 20 for all coral reef fin fish
