Sea cucumber working group

The Sea Cucumber Working Group will provide advice on the operational aspects of the management of the East Coast Beche-de-mer (ECBDM) (sea cucumber) fishery.

The ECBDM fishery is a hand collection harvest fishery, fishing from Cape York to the southern limit of Tin Can Bay. Target species include blackfish, burrowing blackfish, sandfish, white teatfish and prickly redfish. Collection is mainly via hand by divers. Currently 18 commercial harvest licences are endorsed. A total allowable commercial catch (TACC) of 361 tonnes landed weight exists for the entire fishery, allocated through individual annual quotas for each licence.
