Queensland animal science precinct

The Queensland Animal Science Precinct (QASP - previously Centre for Advanced Animal Science) was constructed through a joint project between the Queensland Government and the University of Queensland (UQ).

QASP is located on the UQ´s Gatton campus and houses world-class research facilities in the areas of animal growth, adaptation, welfare, health and vaccines. Research at the precinct focuses on these key areas to ensure continued growth, diversification and protection of Queensland´s animal industries.

QASP brings scientists and industry members together to ensure that research and development leads to rapid practical outcomes. Research conducted at QASP contributes to the development of efficient sustainable livestock industries, safeguarding Queensland and its environment, and capitalising on the advantages offered by our tropical climate.

QASP provides advanced education and training for future generations of researchers and practitioners in the animal industries. It complements the existing animal infrastructure at the Gatton Campus, which includes a state of the art veterinary school, modern dairy, piggery, poultry unit, equine centre and wildlife enclosure.
