Aquaculture planning takes a strategic approach to selection of sites and management of activities.
The Great Sandy Regional Marine Aquaculture Plan (GSRMAP) is the first regional marine aquaculture management plan to be developed for Queensland. The GSRMAP establishes guidelines and identifies suitable sites for sustainable, non-intensive marine aquaculture development. It also streamlines and standardises the assessment process for future aquaculture applications within the boundaries of the Great Sandy Marine Park.
For more information, see the Great Sandy Regional Marine Aquaculture Plan webpage.
The Policy for the Allocation of Marine Aquaculture Authorities introduces a process for competitive allocation in areas where regional planning has been undertaken.
