Report summary

The species spotted mackerel (Scomberomorus munroi) occurs in northern Australia and southern Papua New Guinea and is important to Queensland's recreational and commercial fishers.

The department commenced an ongoing, comprehensive monitoring program for spotted mackerel in 2004. The monitoring program collects biological information from recreational (including charter) and commercial catches - from Cairns to the New South Wales border. The information collected is used to help monitor and assess the status of the spotted mackerel stock in Queensland's east coast waters.

Data is presented on length, frequency, sex and age at length.
