Shaun is the farm supervisor at the Central Queensland Smart Cropping Centre.

“My job is to organise the daily running of the farm including assisting with a commercial crop management plan, when to spray, fertilise, plant and harvest,” said Shaun.

“The best part of my job… planting our winter trails and watching them grow from start to finish. I love harvesting those trials and collecting the data, it’s exciting to see the standout varieties (old faithfuls) and the up-and-coming, to see the potential they may have, whether they get released into the industry or not.

“My proudest moment was when my colleagues and I were able to work together with limited equipment to achieve some quality commercial crops.

“The future excites me here as we are implementing today’s modern farming technology into the day-to-day running of the farm. I look forward to getting the farm up and running to its full potential and inviting external companies in to work together to better the future of Agriculture.”
