Moreton Bay Rock Oysters have adopted AgTech to monitor water temperatures and oyster health.

The rapidly increasing uptake of agricultural technology is being showcased this November - Queensland AgTech month.

AgTech Month celebrates the home-grown ingenuity of the big thinkers, problem-solvers and forward planners in rural and regional Queensland.

This year AgTech Month is a celebration of the growing AgTech community in Queensland.

Stakeholders across Queensland are collaborating through events, workshops and seminars to highlight how AgTech is solving challenges and creating efficiencies in agriculture.

Our AgTech web portal has a calendar of events listed and news from around the state this AgTech Month.

You can also follow our Facebook and LinkedIn social media channels throughout AgTech Month. We will share how farmers are using the power of AgTech to create efficiencies and make life easier in their agribusinesses.

Wade and Sandy McFadgen have adopted AgTech to drive efficiencies and make life easier for their business, Moreton Bay Rock Oysters.

A water temperature and weather dashboard system is helping them to better manage when to harvest and check the quality of oysters.

This is 1 of 9 industry projects funded through round 1 of our Agribusiness Digital Solutions Grant program.

This project, an initiative of the Queensland Oyster Growers Association, was supported by the Queensland Government Agribusiness Digital Solutions Grant Program round one.

What is AgTech?

AgTech is any innovation used across agribusiness and associated value chains to improve efficiency, profitability and sustainability. It includes hardware and software, business models, and new technologies including robotics, sensors, new packaging, biotechnology, structures and new applications.

The National Farmers’ Federation 2030 Roadmap aims to increase the economic contribution of agriculture to $100 billion by 2030 at the farm gate. The Australian Agritech Association is driving to see the AgTech sector contribute $20 billion a year to this $100 billion national target
