Meet Tom Wyatt from SPAN Engineering

“I grew up in a farming family in Moree in NSW. From a young age, I enjoyed tinkering and understanding how all the equipment and farming systems worked. My family used to call me ‘Knobs’ Wyatt because I had to play with all the dials and switches. I followed my nose and studied mechatronic engineering at the University of NSW.

“I now work with SPAN Engineering on our cloud platform, Doover. We provide you with the expertise to design and build a solution, and then make it available to you and your customers through Doover.

“We’ve just helped the Central Queensland Smart Cropping Centre (CQSCC) get its first sensors in the ground with data being collected and presented remotely. We assisted in configuring remote control and monitoring of existing irrigation infrastructure through our Doover dashboard.

“AgTech is an exciting place to be. There are big and valuable opportunities, the work is exciting and practical, and the results are visible and tangible.”

Supported by @Advance Queensland (through Round 8 of Ignite Ideas Funding), SPAN Engineering (@Tom Wyatt) is providing a home-grown solution that is being implemented among multiple technologies on the Central Queensland Smart Cropping Centre site.
