Shooting

Shooting is a costly control method and is generally only effective in controlling individual animals remaining after a baiting program, or targeting bait or trap-shy animals. Animal welfare requirements need to be addressed when shooting.

There are strict regulations regarding the possession and use of firearms in Queensland.

Biosecurity Queensland does not provide property details for sporting or recreational shooting purposes.

Persons wishing to hunt feral animals on private property need to obtain the landholder's permission.

Heavy penalties apply to persons carrying or using firearms on government land without permission.
