Growing for Queensland—Agribusiness and food industry development discussion paper

The engagement period for the Growing for Queensland discussion paper closed on Saturday 31 August, 2019.

The Queensland Government sought input on how we can grow a high-performing, trusted, profitable and sustainable agribusiness and food sector through extensive engagement across the sector, which included an online engagement hub, a series of regional stakeholder workshops and interviews with businesses across the agri-food supply chain.

With the sector facing significant and varied challenges including changing consumer trends, digital disruption and climate change, we asked our stakeholders a series of questions, including:

  • What’s working well in the sector?
  • What’s delivering value to the sector?
  • What will help grow a high-performing, trusted, profitable and sustainable sector?

We sought to identify how to turn these challenges into opportunities for growth, to ensure the sector continues to provide a secure and resilient future for our people and communities, wherever they are in Queensland.

The strategy team are now considering all the information generated throughout engagement in the strategy development process, and will report back early in 2020, after Government consideration, to update on how the input was used in the strategy’s development and what the next phase is.
