Awards Day and Agricultural (Ag) Science Expo

Each year, during National Science Week, students, teachers, DAF staff, sponsors and supporters come together at the DAF Hermitage Research Facility in Warwick to celebrate students’ achievements in the competition and all things ag science!

The program includes a formal awards ceremony, short speeches by dignitaries, a guided tour of the Hermitage Research Facility including rotational DAF research presentations (sorghum, barley, pulses, stored grain pests and animal welfare dogs) followed by a BBQ lunch, an opportunity to engage in the many varied, interactive ag science displays (including a mobile petting zoo) and then end the day with a bang with the dynamic StreetScience Show!

The aims of this event are to:

  • highlight the significance and importance of agriculture and science to our daily lives and promote science and agriculture as a great choice for a long-term, meaningful and rewarding career
  • formally recognise and celebrate students' involvement and achievements in the competition with departmental staff, competition sponsors, supporters and the general community
  • provide students an opportunity to interact with high profile keynote speakers, scientists, staff and competition sponsors, supporters and learn about current plant science research and related industries.

All competition participants, together with their teachers and parents, extended family, and the general public are invited to attend the Awards Day and Ag Science Expo.
