Marine aquarium fish and coral fisheries working group

This working group provides operational advice on the management of Queensland’s marine aquarium fish fishery and coral fishery.

The marine aquarium fish fishery operates from Cape York to the Queensland–New South Wales border. The coral fishery operates from Cape York to the southern extent of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. There are also two small areas south of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park open to harvesting under specific licences. Licence holders harvest by hand using permitted gear. Both fisheries are limited entry, with 59 coral fishery and 45 marine aquarium fish fishery (A1 symbol only) licences endorsed, and all licence holders must report their catch.
