Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme working group

The Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme Working Group (SIPSWG) provide advice to Fisheries Queensland on the operation, guidelines and funding associated with the Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS).

There are 63 impoundments (dams and weirs) in Queensland that require a SIPS permit to fish with a line.

The impoundments are stocked with native fish specifically for recreational fishing. The scheme provides a sustainable fishing option that reduces the fishing pressure on wild fish stocks.

The 2018 Freshwater fishing and fish stocking workshop proceedings is the proceedings (PDF, 1.2MB) from the state-wide fish stocking workshop held at Warwick in November 2018. Key outcomes of the workshop include the development of a stocking action plan, a stocking policy, cost effective monitoring plan and input for the review of the Fisheries Act 1994 and Fisheries Regulation 2008.
