The Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP) undertake compliance activities on behalf of Fisheries Queensland.

Our compliance aim is outlined in the Queensland Fisheries Compliance Strategy.

Education

  • 81 information sessions at community events.
  • 149 educational engagements with stakeholders.
  • 53 engagements with traditional fishers.
  • 22 compliance patrols with indigenous ranger groups.

Monitoring

  • 1,744 compliance patrols.
  • 11,768 compliance inspections.
  • 1,148 reports of illegal fishing investigated.
  • 242 audits of commercial fishing reporting requirements.
  • 97 inspections of wholesale and retail seafood premises.
  • 55 inspections relating to fisheries development.
  • 65 operational flights completed with aerial drones.

Enforcement

  • 14 matters prosecuted before the Magistrates Court.
  • 651 fishing apparatus seized that did not comply with legislation.
  • 22 search warrants executed.
