Black Weir is stocked by the Townsville Barramundi Stocking Society Inc. The weir is stocked with barramundi. The weir joined the SIPS scheme in 2016 but was previously stocked from other funding sources.
Location
Black Weir is located on the Ross River at Townsville. It is upstream of Gleeson Weir and Aplins Weir. The weir is suitable for paddle craft and small powered vessels. Watersports including skiing require a permit from the Townsville City Council. Hire boats and kayaks are available in Townsville. Accommodation is available in Townsville. There are toilets not far from this weir. Townsville has plenty of other recreational activities to enjoy.
