What's special

Cressbrook Dam is stocked by the Toowoomba and District Fish Stocking Association. The dam is stocked with Ausralian bass, golden perch, Mary River cod, saratoga and silver perch. In 2017/18, 30,000 Australian bass, 25,000 golden perch and 2,500 Mary River cod were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 360,000 Australian bass, 192,000 golden perch and 7,500 Mary River cod have been stocked in Cressbrook Dam from SIPS. Additional Mary River cod have been stocked into the dam from other funding sources.

Location

Cressbrook Dam is located about 15 minutes drive from Crows Nest. Boating, canoeing and sailing are permitted on the dam. However, a max speed limit of 8 knots offshore and 4 knots nearshore applies. Swimming is not permitted in the dam. The day use area is open from 6am to 8pm (September to April) and from 7am to 6pm (May to August). Water based activities are not permitted outside these hours (campers included). Accommodation is available at the dam campground which has more than 30 sites. Campsites cannot be pre booked. Campers pay for their sites on arrival. The facilities at the dam include toilets, hot and cold showers, barbeques, camp kitchen, picnic tables, fish cleaning area and a playground.
