Cania Dam is stocked by Cania Dam Fish Stocking Association Inc. The dam is stocked with Australian bass, golden perch, silver perch and saratoga. In 2017/18, 36,363 Australian bass, 6,818 silver perch and 6,818 golden perch were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 570,669 Australian bass, 346,108 golden perch and 217,833 silver perch have been stocked in Cania Dam from SIPS.
Location
Cania Dam is located 37km north west of Monto in central Queensland. It is a popular destination for both fishing and other water sports, with no restrictions on vessel type. No camping is permitted at the dam though accomodation is available at the nearby Cania Gorge Caravan and Tourist Park. They offer cabins, powered and unpowered sites. Camp fires are permitted in some areas. The facilities at the dam include barbeques, picnic tables, toilets and playgrounds.
