Lake Kurwongbah (Sideling Creek Dam) is stocked by the Pine Rivers Fish Management Association Inc. The dam is stocked with Australian bass, golden perch, Mary River cod and saratoga. In 2017/18 20,000 Australian bass were stocked from SIPS permit sales. The dam joined the SIPS in 2016 but was previously stocked from other funding sources. Lake Kurwongbah is well known for its saratoga fishery.
Location
Lake Kurwongbah is located north of Brisbane near Petrie. Fishing is permitted from paddlecraft and the shoreline. Boating and water skiing is only permitted by members and guests of the Lake Kurwongbah Water Ski Zone and Waterski Queensland. Camping is available nearby at the Murrenbong Scout Campsite Kurwonbah or other accommodation can be found in Petrie and the surrounding suburbs. The lake has facilities at Mick Hanfling Park and the Lake Kurwongbah day use area that includes toilets, barbeques, picnic tables, shelters and a playground.
