What's special
Cooby Dam is stocked by the Toowoomba and District Fish Stocking Association. The dam is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod and silver perch. In 2017/18, 25,000 golden perch and 1,400 Murray cod were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 262,925 golden perch and 14,400 Murray cod have been stocked in Cooby Dam from SIPS. Silver perch have been stocked into the dam from other funding sources.
Location
Cooby Dam is located about 7km north of Highfield near Toowoomba. The dam is restricted to electric powered vessels, sailboats and paddlecraft. There is no accommodation at the dam. However, there is accommodation nearby in Highfields or Toowoomba. The facilities at the dam include toilets, barbeques, picnic tables and a kids playground. There are numerous trails near the dam that are suitable for walking and mountain bike riding, including Highfields Falls Circuit and Charles and Motee Rogers Circuit.
