What's special

Somerset Dam is stocked by the Somerset and Wivenhoe Fish Stocking Association. The dam is stocked with Ausralian bass, golden perch, silver perch, saratoga and Mary River cod. In 2017/18, 158,490 Australian bass and 60,035 golden perch were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 2,023,695 Australian bass, 1,134,754 golden perch, 586,898 silver perch, 14,937 Mary River cod and 416 saratoga have been stocked in Somerest Dam from SIPS.

Location

Somerset dam is located within 2 hours drive of Brisbane. It is a popular destination for fishing and water sports with no vessel restrictions. Hire boats and kayaks are available at the dam. Accommodation is available at the Lake Somerset Holiday Park. They offer cabins, powered and unpowered sites. Camp fires are permitted in braziers in the camp ground. The dam is open to all types of vessels. Swimming is permitted in the designated areas. The facilities at the dam include barbeques, picnic tables, toilets and a playground. The dam is well known for the large Australian bass that inhabit the lake.
