What's special

Callide Dam is stocked by the Callide Valley Native Fish Stocking Association Inc. The dam is stocked with barramundi, golden perch, saratoga and sleepy cod. In 2017/18, 6,153 barramundi and 38,709 golden perch were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 170,768 barramundi, 320,290 golden perch, 301 saratoga and 1,268 sleepy cod have been stocked in Callide Dam from SIPS.

Location

Callide Dam is located 12km from Biloela via sealed road and approximately 90km south west of Gladstone via the Dawson Highway. It is a popular destination for both fishing and other water sports, with no restrictions on vessel type. Accommodation is available at the Lake Callide Retreat. They offer cabins and powered sites. Stand-up paddle boards and kayaks can be hired from the retreat. The facilities at the dam include toilets, showers, barbeques, covered picnic tables, playground and a kiosk with supplies. The dam is surrounded by national park that is ideal for bush walks or hiking.
