What's special

Lake Macdonald is stocked by the Lake Macdonald Freshwater Fishing Association Inc. The dam is stocked with Ausralian bass, golden perch, Mary River cod and silver perch. In 2017/18, 12,000 Australian bass and 24,022 golden perch were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 387,979 Australian bass, 152,752 golden perch and 15,200 silver perch have been stocked in Lake Macdonald from SIPS. The dam has also been stocked with Mary River cod from other funding sources. Saratoga were also stocked previously and have established a breeding population.

Location

Lake Macdonald is located near Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast. The lake is restricted to electric powered vessels, sail craft and paddle craft only. Accomodation is available at Camp Cooroora which is situated on the northern banks of Lake Macdonald. Camp Cooroora offers powered and unpowered sites for caravans, camper trailers and tents. The facilities at the lake include toilets, barbeques, picnic tables, shelters and a playground. Dogs on leashes are permitted in Perch Park and Lake Macdonald Park. The Noosa Trail Network starts at the lake and caters for walkers, runners, horse riders and mountain bike riders.
