What's special

Tinaroo Dam is stocked by The Tableland Fish Stocking Society Inc. The dam is stocked with barramundi and sooty grunter. In 2017/18, 54,550 barramundi were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 380,272 barramundi have been stocked in Tinaroo Dam from SIPS. Tinaroo Dam is well known for its big barramundi. There are also some big mangrove jack in the dam that were stocked as part of a research stocking trial.

Location

Tinaroo Dam is located just north of Yungaburra on the Atherton Tableland. There are no vessel restrictions on the dam. The dam is popular for fishing and watersports. Boat, kayak, canoe and stand-up paddleboard hire is available from the Lake Tinaroo Holiday Park. There is a range of accommodation available around Tinaroo Dam including the Lake Tinaroo Holiday Park, Tinaroo Lake Resort and A Tinaroo Escape to name a few. The facilities at the dam include toilets, barbeques, picnic tables, jumping pillow, swimming pool, cafe, shop and fire pits. The dam is surrounded by a network of trails suitable for walking, hiking and mountain biking.
