What's special

Claude Wharton Weir is stocked by the Gayndah Anglers and Fish Stocking Association Inc. The weir is stocked with barramundi, Australian bass and golden perch. In 2017/18 22,727 golden perch and 18,181 Australian bass were stocked from SIPS permit sales. This weir joined the SIP scheme in 2017 and was previously stocked soley by funds raised by the stocking asociation.

Location

Claude Wharton Weir is located on the Burnett River at Gayndah. The weir is accessed off the Burnett Highway 3km north west of Gayndah. This site is popular for both fish and water sports with no vessel restrictions in place. Facilities available include a good boat ramp, toilets, covered picnic tables and barbeques. Camping is no longer available at the weir,but there are a large range of options in nearby Gayndah.
