What's special

Peter Faust Dam is stocked by the Faust Dam Fish Stocking Association Inc. The dam is stocked with barramundi and sooty grunter. In 2017/18 9,750 barramundi were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 760,066 barramundi and 115,000 sooty grunter have been stocked in Peter Faust Dam from SIPS. The dam is known for big barramundi, with some captured over 120cm in length.

Location

Peter Faust Dam is located 20km west of Proserpine. There are no restrictions on the vessel types at Peter Faust Dam. Fishing and watersports are popular on Peter Faust Dam. Accommodation is available at the Lions Camp Kanga, just a short drive from the dam. Camp Kanga has a range of activties including sand volleyball court, low ropes course, playground and an indoor centre. The facilities at the dam include toilets, barbeques and picnic tables.


Accommodation is also available at the Lake Proserpine Camping Ground with close to 150 unpowered bushcamp sites, up to four Glamping Bell Tents, onsite amenities including warm showers, a booking office and kiosk.
