Kinchant Dam is stocked by the Mackay Area Fish Stocking Association Inc. The dam is stocked with barramundi and sooty grunter. In 2017/18, 4,660 barramundi were stocked from SIPS permit sales. A total of 146,731 barramundi have been stocked in Kinchant Dam from SIPS.
Location
Kinchant Dam is located about 30km west of Mackay. There are no restrictions on the vessel types at Kinchant Dam. Fishing and watersports are popular on Kinchant Dam. Accommodation is available at the Kinchant Waters camp ground. The camp ground offers self contained cabins, powered and unpowered sites suitable for caravans and tents. The facilities at the dam include toilets, barbeques, picnic tables, shelters, lookout, cafe, licensed bar and restaurant and a pool table. There are trails suitable for walking and mountain biking around Kinchant Dam.
